On Monday Year 2 went to Butser Celtic Farm. It is a recreation of an Iron Age settlement which ties in very nicely with our history topic. The children were able to experience what life was like two thousand years ago. They discovered how smoky the houses were and tried their hand at archaeology, constructing a wattle fence, jewellery making and carving into chalk. They had a great time and got back to school tired, rather chalky and smelling of wood smoke!
