What a fantastic trip we had to Finkley Down Farm we had on Tuesday. Reception and Year Two worked really well together. They saw a huge variety of animals (we’re not sure that they all really belong on a farm!). They stroked cute lop eared bunnies or kittens to be more precise. They stroked a snake and a bearded lizard, groomed a Shetland pony and fed goats and pigs. They saw tortoises, chicks, piglets, guinea pigs and a huge turkey but we weren’t allowed to mention Christmas near the turkey!
We learnt about baby animals, life-cycles, animal handling and safety and about our own hygiene and safety around animals.
We had a delicious lunch, met the birds of prey and watched a nail-biting sheep race and finally it was time to come back to school and for some of us, to have a little sleep to recharge our batteries!
