Year 3 Time Travelling at Chertsey Museum

Year three travelled back a 1,000 years when they went to Chertsey Museum on Wednesday and took part in a Vikings workshop. The children dressed up as Vikings and made Viking swords. They then had a tour of the site of Chertsey Abbey where they learnt how the Anglo-Saxon monks lived. The children saw the remains of the abbey and learnt how it was raided and destroyed by the Vikings. After lunch the children toured the museum and saw a real Viking sword found nearby at Thorpe. Finally they were visited by a Viking re-enactor who showed them Viking clothes and weapons. The children learnt a lot about Viking warfare and were thoroughly entertained at the same time…
