In assembly time today Year 3 to 6 were lucky enough to meet a very special visitor – GRACE THE HEDGEHOG! Nigel came along from the Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue Centre in Windlesham to talk to us about the decline of the hedgehog population. There are now around a million hedgehogs in the UK compared to 35 million 50 years ago. He talked to the children about how to help make their gardens hedgehog friendly and what to do if they find a hedgehog who needs help. We were then lucky enough to meet Grace, a year old hedgehog and ask questions. She totally won over hearts and the children are very keen to be hedgehog friendly.

We are hoping to create a wildlife garden in the grounds to use as part of our Science curriculum and Harper Asprey are hoping to help us make it perfect for our local wildlife.
