During our Remembrance Service today Lyndhurst School; children and staff paid their respects to those who lost their lives during the battle of the World Wars and other wars. The choir sung ‘Remember’. Mr Rudkin shared with the children the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’. The children respectfully were quiet and reflective whilst they observed the minute’s silence. This was followed by poems recited by Staff Sergeant Thomson from the Royal Yeomanry. Year One helped to create a ‘field of poppies’ with Miss Worcester, a beautiful way to mark an important way. Year Six represented Lyndhurst School by laying a poppy wreath at Camberley’s War Memorial.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
