Lyndhurst SchoolOlivia by Malcolm Sircom

This was a lovely start to the competition with some confidently delivered songs performed with great energy and passion by the entire cast, accompanied by well executed ensemble movement.  Freya held the stage well with her expressive part as Olivia and the piece had some lovely moments throughout, with the comic script bringing out the humour in the performance. Sebastian flicking the ‘slop’ made me smile and even the placard boy played by Kamsi had its comic elements.  The flower sellers scene in London was particularly strong with some well executed staging and the solo by Scarlett as Elisa Doolittle was a special moment. Her beautiful voice delighted us all and her cockney accent was well executed.  It was reassuring to see that everyone in this energetic company knew their place. I felt that all of the members of this company could depend on each other. The character of Mrs Murdstone played by Alice was fearlessly delivered with super energy and great physicality. The entire ensemble should be credited for their energy and enthusiasm. Well done.
