Year 3
Year 3 marks the exciting beginning of Prep School, where children embark on the next chapter of their educational journey. At this stage, they begin learning Maths and English with specialist teachers, fostering a deeper understanding and enthusiasm for these core subjects.
Beyond the classroom, Year 3 offers enriching experiences, including a trip to a local activity centre. This adventure helps build independence, teamwork, and confidence. Additionally, Year 3 pupils take part in a collaborative Drama project alongside Year 5, allowing them to develop creativity, communication skills, and a love for performance.
This year is a fantastic blend of academic progression and hands-on experiences, laying a strong foundation for the years ahead.
Year 4
In Year 4, children are encouraged to become more independent and responsible, both in their learning and in managing their belongings. They begin to take greater ownership of their studies, fostering self-discipline and organisational skills.
Throughout the year, the workload gradually increases to help them build resilience and develop effective study habits. By the end of Year 4, children are well-prepared to meet the challenges of the next stage in their educational journey, laying a solid foundation for working towards senior school exams.
Year 4 is all about growing independence, building confidence, and embracing new responsibilities.
Year 5
Year 5 is a pivotal stage in your child’s academic journey, with the primary focus on preparing for senior school exams. Our dedicated teachers provide the guidance and support needed to help pupils build confidence, develop effective study habits, and reach their full academic potential.
However, at Lyndhurst, we believe in educating the whole child. Alongside academic preparation, there are plenty of opportunities for children to explore and develop their creative and sporting talents. Whether through drama, music, art, or sports, every child is encouraged to discover their passions and grow holistically.
Additionally, Year 5 pupils enjoy a short residential break at a local activity centre, fostering independence, teamwork, and a sense of adventure.
Year 5 is a year of growth, challenge, and exciting new experiences, ensuring each pupil is fully prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
Year 6
Year 6 is a transformative and rewarding year, beginning with the final push towards senior school exams and culminating in a celebration of each child’s personal and academic journey. Our goal is to ensure that every pupil feels prepared, confident, and ready for the challenges ahead.
Beyond academics, Year 6 offers exciting opportunities for personal growth, including a five-day residential trip where pupils explore new adventures, build resilience, and strengthen friendships.
By the end of Year 6, our aim is for every child to leave Lyndhurst as a well-rounded, self-confident, and independent individual, equipped with the skills, knowledge, and mindset necessary to thrive in the next stage of their education and beyond.
We proudly offer residential trips in Years 5 and 6. These larger trips allow our children to further build their resilience and independence, over a number of nights away from home. Year 5 are fortunate enough to spend time in an outdoor activity centre, where they take part in climbing, kayaking and caving. Year 6 spend an entire week in the Brecon Beacons, enjoying the Welsh countryside where they raft build, take aim in archery and practise their orienteering skills. Residentials are an important part of the Lyndhurst ethos, as we ensure they are as inspiring and engaging as possible.
