Lyndhurst School’s Chosen Charity

Posted: 30th January 2023

Linked with Year 6’s Griffin Award they have voted for Lyndhurst School’s chosen charity for 2022 – 2023.  As eloquently stated by a child there are many charities worthy the school’s support.  However, as a school we are focusing on raising funds for one charity.  Four children presented their reasons for supporting different charities.   Educate to Save promotes change through educating others through supporting children from impoverished families by enabling them to learn. Cancer Research UK to help beat cancer across the country.  There was much discussion about the treatment for cancer and the statistics on how many people will get cancer.  World Wildlife Fund is supported to ensure that humans and nature can thrive together.  Year 6 were passionate about being part of the change to protect our planet and its wildlife.  Following personal experience of knowing a gran and meeting a lady lost in the woods with dementia some children proposed Alzheimer’s Society as the school’s chosen charity.  This is a care and research charity for people with dementia and their carers.   After a fair and closed ballot the children voted with a small minority to support Cancer Research UK.
