Drama – Pirates!

Year two are focusing on characterisation in drama this term. They are exploring different characters each week. This week they became pirates. They loved exploring pirate themed drama games and they especially loved finding some treasure and improvising a tale about how they acquired their ill-gotten gains.

Pre-Reception STEM

A fabulous hands on STEM experiment down in Little Lyndhurst with Pre-Reception this week. Hearts made with vinegar were covered in a bicarb and water mixture to make them fizz! The children loved getting involved and seeing the results first hand.

Drama – Animals

The drama topic for this half term for Year 1 is animals. Each week we will be looking at different animals and their characteristics. This week we went under the sea. The children explored different physicality for various sea creatures. They became jelly fish, dolphins, sharks and crabs, they performed an under the sea movement…

Year 2 – Shape Hunters!

23rd February 2022

To start Year 2’s new Maths topic of 2D and 3D shapes, the children went on a scavenger hunt for them around the school. They worked together as a team and were very surprised to find that the most common shape was a cuboid!

Embracing Outdoor Learning

This session of outdoor learning with Reception and Year 1 truly embraced our programme LEAF! The children eagerly hunted for a different variety of leaves in all shapes, colours and sizes. They were then able to examine them up close and make sketches too.

Drama – Year 2

‘Acting is reacting’ that’s what year two have been learning in drama this week. Even if you are not centre stage, it is important to stay in character and react to the action in the scene. Year 2 have also looked at other acting techniques this term such as using rhythm, energy, emotions and actions.

French with Reception

10th February 2022

Reception are learning lots of parts of the body this term; we’ve been having great fun playing games with the language and singing songs (including, of course, ‘Head, shoulders’!) Here we are performing this song and singing a traditional French nursery rhyme ‘Mes Petites Mains’. Tre bien!  

Year 1 Go for Launch!

Year 1 had an amazing time creating their own blasting rockets! Linked to their outer space topic – they designed colourful rockets to sit on top of plastic bottles. They used air to send their rockets into the air and had a great time learning about how this happened. Blast off!
