Happy Holi! Celebrating the Festival of Colours

Posted: 19th May 2021

Lyndhurst School was fully alive when we were visited by Kalpesh from K’zDance for a workshop on Bollywood dance and the Hindu Holi Festival.

Holi is a popular ancient Hindu festival, also known as the “Festival of Love”, the “Festival of Colours”, and the “Festival of Spring”. The festival signifies the triumph of good over evil.

Holi also celebrates the arrival of spring, the end of winter, the blossoming of love and for many, it is a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships.

Children and staff were fully engaged in learning the lively Bollywood dance routines to the totally compulsive dance music. That was followed by enacting the ‘Festival of Colours’ on the playground, greeting one another with ‘Happy Holi’ and daubing one another with colourful paints.

It was wonderful to watch the children immerse themselves in the moment, laughing and enjoying the permission to get very messy!

The staff loved it to!!!
