Virtual Workshop with Katherine Rundell – Years 5 and 6 – 28th September 2020

Thanks to the wonders of technology and the demands of 2020, Years 5 and 6 joined over a thousand children from across the country for a virtual interview with popular, award-winning author Katherine Rundell, who has lots of fans at Lyndhurst!

They were all familiar with one of her previous books “The Explorer” and came up with lots of questions to ask her. Despite the massive audience, Katherine did get around to answering some questions from our school. She gave the children some great advice, telling them to never give up on their writing and to keep editing, redrafting and rewriting their work to make it better.

Katherine suggested that if children start a diary and write only one sentence a day – but a sentence that captures the most interesting thing of that day – at the end of the year, they will surely have at least one sentence which can inspire them to write a story. I loved this idea!

Kathrine is currently working on her new book and if you want to find out more, it will be announced on her Instagram on Wednesday 30th September! She is also working on a book for adults too!
