Internet Safety Day

Posted: 14th March 2023

A big thank you to One Day Creative for coming in to do a fantastic workshop with the children on Internet safety.

Year 1 and 2 children had a pirate themed online safety workshop.  They were taught how to use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private.  They also played games to be able to identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content on the internet.

Years 3 and 4 examined the world of the hit new game, 008 – they navigated their way through various exercises and problems, such as what to do with a message that we didn’t like, as well as what sort of information to give out and what sort to keep safe.

Year 5 & 6 covered many aspects of being safe on the Internet. Initial discussions were about what the internet actually was and what it is used for. They were asked lots of questions for discussion – What is Privacy? Is the Internet a good thing? What is Social Media? How can we protect our personal information? What is cyber-bullying and what actions we should take if it every happens to us. Lots of food for thought.

Little Lyndhurst also took part in Internet Safety Day and did some role play activities with Miss Dawson where the children had to distinguish whether the person on a screen was a real person or pretend. They were all encouraged to ask their parents when they wanted to use their tablets/ iPads.
